Durfee French Connection

Here is some information and pictures I have recieved from other Durfee's about our connection with France.

The Chateau de la Bastie d'Urfé stands close to Montverdun, North-west from the town of Saint-Etienne.

The Chateau is a master piece of the renaissance architecture.

Best known ancestor is Honnoré d'Urfé

He was born in 1567 in Marseille. He died in 1625.

He is the author of : A pastoral Poem "Sireine" and "Epitres morales" (moral Letters) also A pastoral novel (12 volumes) written between 1607 and 1619 called "L'Astree", whose influence has been signigicant upon preciosity in the 17th centruy.
